he is not well-dressed

you may disagree, but then you'd be wrong

At Pitti Uomo. Blanket or coat? Style?

Never do this. well, never is an absolute, and I rarely find comfort in absolutes. Therefore: Never do this, UNLESS you are standing on the bank of the Red Sea and Egyptian Pharoah and his army are moving in for the slaughter. Other than that, don’t!

Actually, he is quite well-dressed - with special kudos for the two-inch pinstripes. However, when it is cold enough for gloves, lactose intolerance should kick in. Just saying…

Why? Why? Why?

There seems to be this accepted practice on Tumblr of pelting pics of men who have pulled their ties up and out of the top of their v-necks, in an effort to show how week said tie pulls the outfit together. This is NOT cool. It always looks forced, and leads to damaging the neckline of the sweater (as the photo clearly shows) over a period of time. The way to get around this problem is by investing in a deeper cut v-neck or going bow-tie. That said, the color coordination is flawless and, more importantly, tasteful.

Beautiful spread collar, and fantastic deep, rich tone. Bravo, man!

White-on-White herringbone shirt + grey two-tone herringbone coat = WIN! The white-on-navy tie and the cement-colored three-piece make this ensemble virtually flawless.

Actually, these two gentlemen are well-dressed. This is how you pull off the “this-whole-thing-is-not-new-to-me” look. Bravo, gentlemen! This is to be celebrated in full throat.

The green hat intrigues me. The lilac shirt delights me. The aqua tote interests me. The grooming impresses me. And *that* is where it ends.

As an ensemble, this is a disaster: wispy rope belts—especially over double-breasted topcoats—get you zero points, as does the complete lack of consideration for color coordination. All of which I could excuse, if not for the spew-inducing footwear choice.

This makes one think of those friends we all have who go on shopping sprees, then proceed to wear all of their new purchases the next day.

Let’s agree not to celebrate this type of behavior.
